There are many modelling aspirants who want to break into the category of petite modelling in fashion industry. They are in a quandary whether it is essential for one to join some modelling school or classes and spend hundreds of dollars in order to get a foothold in the industry. We shall go through a few facts about modelling schools. Some people are under the misconception that modelling schools can definitely get them assignments and jobs. In fact, clients who are in need of petite models do not care if the model had been to some modelling school or not. To them, it is not at all a qualification or requirement for the job.

Most of the modelling schools and classes would be teaching the students the runway modelling techniques. Actually this type of modelling is aimed at getting into the fashion industry. Apart from that, if the models happen to be less than 5 feet 9 inches they do not stand a chance to get a break so as to work as a runway model. Some small time modelling agencies and managers offer classroom studies. This is particularly rampant in lesser towns and sparsely populated areas. Beware of such modelling agencies that offer these kinds of classes, as these classes cannot get one very far. They are doing this for their own selfish gains. Do remember that a reputed agency would never ask a model to pay for such matters.

Even if you are a novice in this field, you can gain all the modelling styles by practicing
different poses in front of a mirror under the guidance of an expert. Also, the client is likely to be more interested in a model’s looks, attitude and personality. Many a time college students and high school students are approached by persons who introduce themselves as “modelling scouts”. They will also offer them with the opportunity to kick start a career in the fashion industry as a model. Be very cautious about these people; just because they flaunt a business card, one should not get into the belief that his agency can get you modelling jobs. The thing is that these ‘so called’ scouts are mostly paid by modelling schools and that too on a per student basis. For each person they convince for signing up for the school’s modelling classes, they are given an amount as commission.

To get assignments from reputed agents or modelling managers one has to find someone who has got a business license. The ideal person will have good connections with really good clients that pay models for the assignment or work. But if you want to get into television or video modelling and if you are interested in this category in the industry, you should look forward to attending some acting classes. Many directors consider acting classes as something that give valuable experience; and showing this experience can make a marked difference in your modelling portfolio. While modelling classes can be a waste of time and money, acting classes can prove to be good for a modelling aspirant.
